Exceptional Support for Exceptional People

1:1 support for gifted, autistic, and ADHD people
(or those who think they might be)

Are you…

  • Suspecting you’re gifted, and you want to check it out with someone who knows giftedness, to see if you’re right, and figure out what to do about it?
  • Figuring out your giftedness, autism, and/or ADHD, and you want to get better at understanding and handling your magnificent, unruly mind?
  • Somewhere between suspecting and being confident you’re gifted/autistic/ADHD, and you want to work through some issues with someone who knows their stuff about neurodivergence AND working through issues?

About Me Who is Sue?

I’m a gifted, super highly sensitive, self-dx autistic/ADHD-brained 40-something, living in Cambridge, UK, with a child, a penchant for pancakes, and a garden.

I’ve trained my brain in physics (Cambridge University, no less), Buddhist approaches to psychology and meditation, environmental sciences (Dr Sue, thank you), education (PGCE – high school maths teaching), fundraising (why not?), and a whole heap of peopley things (details here).

I speak native English, acquired Dutch, very rusty French, and play piano and clarinet.

Raising a highly sensitive child

Are you raising a highly sensitive child? Are you baffled by how they can do some things way ahead of what you’d expect for their age, and yet other things are seriously tricky for them? Are you curious about understanding how they tick, so you can help them better? In...

How to heal from insecure attachment in adults

To heal from insecure attachment as an adult takes time, tenderness, and tenacity. In an ideal world, infants would be lovingly welcomed and cared for by their main caregivers, bond well, and reap the benefits of secure attachment their first two years. They would grow up into securely attached children,...

Holiday tips for Highly Sensitive People

Holidays for highly sensitive people. Love them or hate them, if you’re going on holiday and you’re highly sensitive, or you have highly sensitive people as your travel companions: get prepared! HSP flashpoints on holiday typically occur when: your body is out of whack there’s a lot of people-stuff going...

What’s a session with Sue really like?

Late summer 2017, I met Andy Clark of the Here in Holland podcast. We got talking, and to cut a long story short he came to interview me about my integrated coaching method. He also volunteered himself as a skeptical, open-minded guinea pig to try a session with me himself....

Stop over-reacting!

How often have you been triggered into a total hissy fit by the words “Stop over-reacting!!”When we’re over-reacting, we definitely don’t want to be told about it. In fact, we don’t want to admit it for ourselves. In some cases, we have no idea that we’re over-reacting and so the...

Helping sensitive, intelligent children

When it comes to helping sensitive, intelligent children, one of the most frequent questions I hear from people interested in my work is “do you work with children?” I don’t – directly. I work with you. You’re (one of) the most influential people in your child’s life – and if...

Why self-help books don’t always work

Long ago, I discovered self-help books that didn’t work. Self-development processes that didn’t stick. Self-improvement methods that didn’t bring about lasting improvements. It’s not that these books, processes and methods were flawed. I’m sure they work for lots of people. But they don’t go deep enough, not for everyone. Imagine...

You’ve heard it too many times already. “Urgh, you’re so sensitive” “Why do you have to take everything so seriously? So personally?” “What are you worried about that for?” Annoying, right? Downright irritating. You’ve heard it before, you are who you are, and this is how you roll. Yet other...

How to tell when you’re ungrounded

Being ungrounded happens a lot. You feel a bit off. Not quite there. Or completely over-excited. You’ve lost touch with yourself physically. Lost touch with the earth. Lost touch with the reality of the situation you find yourself in. You lose touch with yourself emotionally. You’re either lost in emotions...
